Look Forward to It!!!Clinton gives her position that the U.S. should end in the war in Iraq. She sees the problems of Iraq as having "no military solution" and would rather focus on political and diplomatic efforts. O'Reilly sees U.S. force withdrawal in Iraq as a mistake. He forsees a pull out as a sign of weakness in the eyes of Iran. O'Reilly predicts the return of troops will result in a take over by the Persian state and an increase of gas prices. Clinton dismisses O'Reilly's hypothetical scenarios as flawed. "Here's the fallacy in your argument. You're acting as though there is only one choice to deal with the potential turmoil." Next, O'Reilly moved on to the pop quiz section of the program with a question dealing with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He asks Clinton if she knows where the Taliban's "primary haven" is. Clinton says that there are multiple locations along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. O'Reilly states that the answer he is looking for is the area of Taliban "command and control" is Quetta, Pakistan. Clinton then argues that the Taliban leadership is mobile and not centrally located. She goes past the pop quiz and gives her plan of working with the new democratically elected government of Pakistan to rid the terrorist group. O'Reilly then contrasts interrogation methods acceptable to him and the former first lady. O'Reilly shares his firm belief in the effectiveness of water boarding and other harsh techniques. Clinton disagrees with the Fox host, and states that, as President, she can protect the United States without breaking laws and that brutal interrogation tactics do not produce good intelligence. "I don't think torture works," she declares. Later, Clinton mentions that torture is not an issue between any of the remaining candidates, adding that John McCain, having being on the receiving end of harsh treatment, will never condone the practice. Bill last topic of interview dealt with "Sanctuary Cities". He asks Clinton if she will "crack down" on local law enforcement that do not enforce federal immigration laws. The Democratic candidate says she will not. She counters any notion of her allowing an increase of illegal immigration by recounting her Senatorial efforts of funding border personnel and a physical barrier where appropriate. "I'm 100 percent in favor of tightening our borders, enforcing the laws against employers, of going after the kind of abuses that we see in the job market. We have a broken immigration system that has gotten caught up in this political partisan wrangling. That is not solving the problem." Regarding O'Reilly's link of Sanctuary Cities to the practice of the release of criminals, Clinton states that any foreign lawbreaker should be either deported, "no questions asked," or "tried for the crime". Clinton explains that the United States immigration enforcement should be retooled to become a policy between the conducting of door to door house searches, advocated by some extreme right-wing activists, and the current broken system. Clinton attempts to find common ground with O'Reilly stating that there is work needed to be done. "We can reach a balanced, a fair and balanced approach toward this to protect people." After the barrage of questions, the interview ends with O'Reilly asking the night's toughest question. He asks Clinton if his was the most fun interview she has ever done. Hillary throws the same question back at him. He instantly says yes, but then quickly takes it back. He liked his time with the singer Cher more.
