Nevada Challenges Bush Petition to Dump Nuclear Waste at Yucca Mt. Print E-mail

Nevada state officials have issued the first challenge to the license request made by the Bush Administration to deposit nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain.

The Bush Administration submitted a 8,646 page request to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for approval to crate the nuclear dump outside of Las Vegas.

Nevada officials claim the request is incomplete and lacks key environmental protections.

Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman is confident, however, that the document submitted will hold up under legal scrutiny.
