Obama Fundraiser Tony Rezko Found Guilty on 16 of 24 Counts Print E-mail

After 13 days of deliberation, a Chicago jury returned their verdict today in the corruption trial of Antoin 'Tony' Rezko.

The verdict is as follows:

  • Guilty on 6 of 6 counts wire fraud
  • Guilty on 6 of 9 counts mail/wire fraud
  • Not Guilty on 1 count attempted extortion
  • Guilty on 2 of 6 counts corrupt solicitation
  • Guilty on 2 counts money laundering

    DNC Makes it Official - Senator Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee Print E-mail

    This afternoon, the DNC declared Senator Barack Obama to be the official Democratic Presidential Nominee. This historic nomination will make Senator Obama the first African American to be on a major party ticket.

    In the morning after the final day of primaries, Hillary Clinton made a slight dig at Barack Obama in front of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee meeting in Washington, D.C.

    Subtly mocking the Illinois Senator's rhetoric of attacking lobbying groups and subsequently , Senator Clinton said:

    The DNC Released the following statement today:

    Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, DGA Chairman Joe Manchin and DNC Chairman Howard Dean today issued the following statement:

    "We have come to the end of an exciting primary and caucus process - the voters have spoken. As the Democratic leaders of the Senate, House of Representatives, the Governors and the Democratic National Committee we commend all of the participants of the 2008 primary process, especially Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, for making this such a transformational election. Because of the enthusiasm our candidates have inspired, our party has brought record numbers of voters to the polls, gained millions of newly registered Democrats and now has advantages in states many thought were difficult to win. We are grateful to the millions of Independents and Republicans who have crossed over to vote for a Democratic candidate for President.
