May 4, 2008

"This is a time where we can't just settle for business as usual. That we've got to have a different kind of politics, we've got to push back the special interests in Washington. We've got to engage in some truth telling, and that is why this Gas tax debate has been so important And I think we have to unify the country to solve problems."

Hillary Clinton on This Week: Obama's Gas Tax Holiday Criticism is 'Elite Opinion'
Sunday, May 04, 2008
Sunday Morning Mashup of ABC'S THIS WEEK:
HILLARY CLINTON
May 4, 2008
Hillary Clinton responds to Obama's and economists' criticism of her gas tax holiday proposal.
"It's really odd to me that arguing to give relief to the vast majority of Americans creates this incredible push back. When the Federal government through the Fed and the Treasury gave 30 Billion Dollars in a bail out to Bear Stearns, I didn't hear anybody jump up and say, 'That's not going according to the market; that's rewarding irresponsible behavior.' We gotta get out of this mindset where, somehow, elite opinion is always on the side of doing things that really disadvantage the vast majority of Americans."

Howard Wolfson on Face the Nation: Obama Losses Raises 'Questions'
Sunday, April 27, 2008
Sunday Morning Mashup of FACE THE NATION:
HOWARD WOLFSON
April 27, 2008
Hillary Clinton's Chief Strategist instills doubts about Obama in voters minds.
"I think Democrats do have questions about whether or not he is going to be able to reach out and successfully win over the kind of blue collar voters that Democrats need to win in order to take the White House back in November. I think Senator Obama was well poised to win Ohio, he was well poised to win Pennsylvania. He outspent us in Pennsylvania 3 to 1. He set spending records in Pennsylvania and the fact that he was unable to put Senator Clinton away in these two key battleground states, I think, does raise questions on behalf of Democrats around the country about whether or not he would be our best nominee to face John McCain in the fall."

David Axelrod on Face the Nation: Obama Offers Progress
Sunday, April 27, 2008
Sunday Morning Mashup of FACE THE NATION:
DAVID AXELROD
April 27, 2008
Barack Obama's chief strategist David Axelrod details the work needed to be done in the future.
"We do have to come together, not just as a party, but as a country. We have to get past our divisions. We have to push back on the special interests in Washington. We have to level with the American people about what needs to be done and move forward. And that's what Senator Obama is offering. I don't by the way, believe that Senator Clinton, I think she's competing very hard, I don't think she's doing it because she wants to defeat Senator Obama in the fall, I think she's doing it because she wants to be the nominee."
